Agleague Matchweek 15 preview

Arabian Gulf League Matchweek 15 preview

Matchweek 15 of the Arabian Gulf League kicks off on Tuesday before resuming on Thursday and Friday.

Al Wasl and Bani Yas will kick off the action on Tuesday, due to the Cheetahs’ clash with Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli on Sunday in the first leg of the Zayed Champions Cup.

The opening game of matchweek 15 will be held at Zabeel Stadium at 18:00. Both sides will be entering the game on the back of positive results in the previous round, as the Cheetahs defeated Dibba 2-1 to move to 14th point in 11th place. Meanwhile, the Sky Blues thrashed Fujairah 4-0 to jump to fifth place on 21 points.

The action will resume on Thursday when Fujairah host Al Jazira at 17:25, while Al Nasr play with Sharjah at Al Maktoum Stadium at 20:00.

The Wolves will be looking to earn a positive result after their big defeat to Bani Yas last week, which left them in 12th place on 12 points, two above 13th-placed Emirates Club.

Meanwhile, the Pride of Abu Dhabi will be looking to return to winning ways as well after falling to a 1-0 defeat to Shabab Al Ahli to remain frozen on 28 points in third place.

Later on Thursday, Al Nasr will clash with leaders Sharjah. The Blues missed a chance to secure the three points against Ajman last week, after they were held to a 1-1 draw to sit ninth on 16 points.

The King, however, remain on top, after earning a 2-1 victory over Al Dhafra last week. Sharjah - the only side who are yet to concede a defeat in the league - top the table on 34 points, two above second-placed Al Ain.

On Friday, Al Wahda will host Dibba at Al Nahyan Stadium at 17:30. The Clarets have most recently lost 1-0 to Al Ain in a postponed game from matchweek 13 to remain frozen on 21 points in sixth place.

Meanwhile, Dibba’s struggles continue as they fell to a 2-1 loss to Al Wasl in their first game after the league resumption. The Sailors remain at the bottom of the table on four points.

At the Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan Stadium, Al Dhafra will play against Al Ain at 17:35. The Western Knights, who sit 10th on 14 points, are in a desperate need for a win after losing to Sharjah in their last game.

The Boss, however, are looking to keep pace with the leaders as they currently sit second on 32 points, two behind Sharjah.

At 20:00, Shabab Al Ahli are scheduled to host Ajman in a tough clash. Shabab Al Ahli earned a late 1-0 win over Al Jazira, while the Oranges sealed a last-gasp draw with Al Nasr last week. Ajman now sit seventh on 19 points, nine behind fourth-placed Shabab Al Ahli.

At the same time, Emirates Club will be hosting Ittihad Kalba. The Falcons earned a valuable 0-0 draw with Al Ain in matchweek 14 to collect their 10th point and remain in 13th place. The Tigers, however, succumbed to a 4-2 defeat to Al Wahda to remain eighth on 18 points.
