The Pro League Committee has revealed the names of the shortlisted nominees for the Arabian Gulf League’s monthly awards nominees for October in the Best Player, Best Goalkeeper and Best Coach categories, based on statistics provided by Sports Data providers “Sportradar”.
The shortlist for October’s Player of the Month includes Al Nasr striker Alvaro Negredo, Fujairah playmaker Fernando Gabriel and Sharjah striker Welliton Soares.
Negredo scored in each of his side’s four matches during October, netting five times overall. Meanwhile, Gabriel created five goals in October for the Wolves and added a goal. In turn Soares is the Arabian Gulf League’s top goal scorer with nine goals, three of each came in his side’s four fixtures in October.
October’s goalkeeper of the month shortlist includes Shabab Al Ahli custodian Majed Nasser, in addition to brothers Ali Al Hosani of Ajman and Adel Al Hosani of Sharjah.
Nasser kept one clean sheet and conceded just five goals in his side’s four matches during the month. In turn, Ali Al Hosani was the only goalkeeper to assist a goal in the league in October, while he conceded seven goals. His brother Adel, meanwhile, played a big role in keeping Sharjah top of the table, conceding just four times all month. No team scored more than once against Al Hosani’s Sharjah.
The coaches shortlist features Serbian pair Ivan Jovanovic of Al Nasr and Vuk Rasovic of Al Dhafra in addition to Sharjah boss Abdulaziz Al Anbari.
Jovanovic helped the Blues turn their fortunes around, winning two games and drawing as many during October. September’s winner Al Anbari continued impressing as his Sharjah side remained unbeaten all month to lead the table. Rasovic took Al Dhafra into three consecutive wins for the first time since 2016, collecting 9 out of 12 possible points in October.
Voting starts at 18:00 on Wednesday, November 7th on the website http://motm.agleague.ae and continues for 48 hours before winners are announced on the PLC’s social media pages.
Winners will receive a specially made trophy to be collected ahead of kick-off in their respective teams’ matches in the next round of matches.
