QNB Stars League Week 11 Highlights

QNB Stars League, week 11 highlights

Reigning champions Al Duhail have sent a strong warning to rivals as the 2018-19 season QNB Stars League reached the halfway stage.

The Week 11 action witnessed two high-scoring games, three wins by 2-0 margins, a goalless draw and a total of 17 goals.

Al Duhail defeated Al Arabi 2-0, with Karim Boudiaf and Yousef El Arabi scoring the goals, to take their points tally to 28. In the process, they extended their unbeaten run and are the only team to do so.

Al Duhail have a match in hand, against Al Sadd from Week 9 due to their AFC Champions League engagements.

Meanwhile, Al Sadd got back to winning ways as they beat Umm Salal 5-1. Pedro Miguel, Hassan Al Haydous, Xavi Hernandez and Akram Afif (two goals) found the target for Al Sadd, while Yannick Sagbo scored the consolation goal for Umm Salal.

Al Sadd, who stayed third with 20 points, have played two games less (vs Al Khor from Week 5 and vs Al Duhail from Week 4 are pending owing to their AFC Champions League commitments).

Umm Salal slipped from fifth to seventh position with the defeat. They stayed on 15 points.

Al Sadd are just one point behind second-placed Al Rayyan who prevailed over Qatar SC by a 2-0 margin. Musa Haroon and Sebastian Soria were the scorers.

Al Sailiya blanked Al Kharaitiyat 5-0 in the other high-scoring match.

Al Sailiya remained in the fourth position in QNB Stars League standings with 19 points. Strikers Rachid Tiberkanine contributed a hat-trick and Abdulqadir Ilyas a brace to The Peregrines’ victory that came their way after a losing streak of three matches.

Al Sailiya had lost to Al Duhail 0-1 in their rescheduled match from Week 5.

However, the defeat further put Al Kharaitiyat in a precarious position. They are placed at the bottom of the table with only three points (one victory and 10 losses).

Meanwhile, Al Ahli gained further ground as they defeated Al Khor 2-0, Abdelrahman Mohammed and substitute Ali Ferydoon netting the goals.

Al Ahli moved from sixth to fifth spot with 18 points, just one less than Al Sailiya.

Al Gharafa moved from seventh to sixth position despite being held by Al Shahania to a 0-0 draw.

Al Gharafa have 15 points, three more than Al Shahania who made a big leap having jumped from 10th to eighth spot.
