Al Nasr stun Al Ain to win Cup tie

Arabian Gulf Cup, Al Nasr vs Al Ain

Salem Saleh's late strike earned Al Nasr a 2-1 win against Al Ain at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, in matchweek 2 of the Arabian Gulf Cup Group B.

Al Nasr managed to break the deadlock just two minutes into the game, as Samuel Rosa's accurate ground cross was finished with composure by Iury Lirio into the bottom corner, after evading his marker skillfully.

In the 32nd minute, Caio Fernandes scored the equaliser for the Boss, as he received the ball inside the box following a poor clearance by Al Nasr's defence. The Brazilian then dribbled past Saeed Suwaidan with a clever feint and smashed it into the back of the net, netting his third goal in the Arabian Gulf Cup.

The Blues nearly took the lead in the 61st minute, as Marcos Gabriel went past Al Ain's defence, but the Brazilian's left footed strike was saved brilliantly by the Boss' goalkeeper Hamad Al Mansoori.

Lirio turned from scorer to creator, as he passed the ball to Saleh, whose accurate low shot from the edge of the box crept past Al Mansoori, making it 2-1 for the away side just six minutes before the fulltime whistle.

Following the win, Al Nasr top Group B table with the full mark from two games. Meanwhile, Al Ain occupy the group's third spot with three points.
