QNB Stars League side Qatar SC on Tuesday unveiled their star signing Samuel Eto’o.
The Cameroonian striker has represented the world’s top clubs like Barcelona, Chelsea and Inter Milan, and has numerous titles under his belt, including the UEFA Champions League and Spanish La Liga.
Eto’o was presented at a Press conference at the club, where he signed the deal with Qatar SC President Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad bin Nasser Al Thani.
Eto’o had reached Doha on Monday and underwent his medical before joining the Qatar SC ranks for one season.
Sheikh Jassim welcomed Eto’o to the club.
“We welcome star player Eto’o to Qatar SC and we’re delighted to have him in our squad. We wish him success in Qatar. He’s one of the players with huge potential and his credentials are well-known. We signed him after much thought,” said Sheikh Jassim.
On his part, Eto’o said, “It’s a great honour for me to be in this wonderful country and this great club, which is keen to revive its old glory, as underlined by the club’s president. I love football and I love scoring goals. I take this opportunity to urge the club’s fans to continue to support the team in its bid to be back among the top sides in Qatar,” said Eto’o.
“After playing for 22 years, I wanted to have a new experience and I wanted to be a part of Qatar SC. I spoke to my former team-mates Xavi Hernandez and Wesley Sneijder, and they encouraged me to come to Qatar as they’re very impressed by the conditions here,” he added.
