Berg bonanza as Al Ain hit Al Dhafra for five

Arabian Gulf League matchweek 22 Al Ain FC

There were celebrations for both sides at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in matchweek 22 of the Arabian Gulf League as Al Ain capped off their title triumph with an emphatic 5-0 win over Al Dhafra. The visitors were, nonetheless, buoyant at the end of the evening after the Emirates Club's draw against Al Nasr confirmed Al Dhafra's survival in the top division for another season. Marcus Berg opened the scoring in the 25th minute, converting Ahmed Barman's cross from the left wing with a first touch into the bottom corner to net his 22nd goal of the campaign. The Swede turned from scorer to creator as he crossed for Ibrahim Diaky to sweep home Al Ain's second of the night in the 67th minute. The hosts' festivities continued when Berg doubled his tally three minutes later. The striker was left with a simple tap-in from point-blank after Rayan Yaslam got on the end of Mohamed Ahmed's header and squared for the Swede inside the six-yards-box. Al Ain's number nine was not finished yet, as he completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot six minutes before the final whistle. Berg made it 25 goals of the campaign to round off the scoring with Al Ain's fifth of the night after finishing off Hussein El Shahat's cross from the right wing. Despite the five-goal reversal, Al Dhafra confirmed their place in next season's Arabian Gulf League after their relegation rivals Emirates fell to a 2-2 draw against Al Nasr.
