Xavi recovers from back injury
Injured star playmaker Xavi Hernandez will return to action for Al Sadd when they play host to Umm Salal in the eighth round of QNB Stars League on 19th November.
The World Cup and European Championship winner with Spain had missed their Round 7 fixture against Al Ahli, which they won 2-1, with a back injury. Xavi seemed to have recovered from it as he took part in team training on Tuesday evening.
Algerian midfielder Jugurtha Hamroun, who was also nursing an injury, attended the training session too. He did not play in the Al Ahli match either.
However, Hamroun had scored two goals in Al Sadd’s 4-5 defeat at the hands of Al Arabi in Round 4 of the QSL Cup, where they exited Group B without a single point.
The Wolves will also have the services of Qatar internationals, such as Saad Al Sheeb, Hassan Al Haydous, Salem Al Hajri, Boualem Khoukhi and Musaab Khader, who played in the friendlies against the Czech Republic and Iceland.
Similarly, Meshaal Barsham, Hassan Ahmed, Meshaal Al Shammari, Fahd Shnein and Yousuf Abdul Razzaq will return to the Al Sadd fold after doing duty for the Qatar Olympic team in two friendlies against its Syrian counterpart.
