Sports Industry Awards Asia final stage- Pro League Committee UAE
The Pro League Committee has advanced to the final stage of competition for two awards in the "Sports Industry Awards Asia" taking place in the Thai capital Bangkok. Now in its third year, SPIA Asia, brings together thought leaders in the sport industry for a two day sports business conference and also seeks to celebrate sporting excellence in the sport industry by way of the awards. The winners in 23 different award categories will be rewarded in the grand ceremony in Bangkok on the 7th of November 2017.
The Pro League Committee competes with six of Asia's top domestic leagues for the Best Football Organisation in Asia award. The other nominees for the award are; The Saudi Pro League, J-League, Chinese Super League, A-League and the Football Association of Thailand.
The PLC has also been shortlisted among ten other submissions for the Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative of The Year Award.
The PLC's shortlisting's come on the back of significant progress made by the league last season as it topped the AFC domestic competitions ranking twice in a row. In terms of CSR initiatives, the PLC launched 11 initiatives during last season in conjunction with the announcement by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, declaring 2017 as the year of giving in the UAE.
The SPIA awards accepts submissions based on the previous sport season achievements. Submissions for the current edition started on the 26th of April 2017 and ended on the 8th of September. The final shortlists of the awards were announced on the 29th of September while a panel consisting of more than 20 Asian sports experts will decide the winners who will be named on the 7th of November and officially crowned during the black tie awards ceremony.
The awards ceremony is preceded by a conference bringing together sport industry experts in Asia to discuss ways of improving the industry in the Asian region. The two-day sports business conference touches on topics such as sport tourism, sport business and sport technology.
