October deadline set for club licensing in UAE
The Pro League Committee's First Instance Body holds its periodic meeting on the 9th of October to make its decision about club licensing for the current cycle that started on September 2016 and lasts until October 2017. The PLC's Development and Club Licensing Department is currently working on preparing the final report for the current licensing cycle according to the approved schedule for UAE Club Licensing Regulations approved by the AFC to license qualified clubs to the 2018 AFC Champions League.
The PLC is set to submit its final report about licensed clubs by the 31st of October. Clubs that have qualified to the 2018 AFC Champions League must meet all the criteria listed in the Emirati club licensing regulations to participate in the competition. Should any qualified club fail to obtain the license, the opportunity will be passed on to the club that finished one position below them in the 2016/17 Arabian Gulf League provided that club has been licensed. The licensing regulations give clubs the right to appeal the first instance body's decision within five working days of its initial decision.
