Al Ain: United Arab Emirates powerhouse Al Ain have signed Tsukasa Shiotani ahead of the 2017 AFC Champions League quarter-finals.
The 28-year-old defender began his professional career at Ibaraki-based club Mito Hollyhock in 2011, before helping steer Sanfrecce Hiroshima to J.League titles in 2012, 2013 and 2015. Shiotani was also part of the squad that finished third at the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2015.
A member of Japan's squad at the 2015 AFC Asian Cup, Shiotani has appeared in the 2013, 2014 and 2016 editions of the AFC Champions League. He will now look to bolster the West Asian club’s defence alongside Ismail Ahmed, Khaled Abdulrahman and Mohanad Salem, when they face Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal on August 21 in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.
