Qatar Stars League Thursday preview
Thursday will see four matches that will start round 25 of the QSL. With only two more rounds left to play; it’s now or never for the eight teams to end their season in the best possible way.
Two matches featuring the top two teams in the table will kick off at 18:20. Front runners, Lekhwiya will face eighth placed Al Ahli at the Lekhwiya stadium. Lekhwiya are only two points ahead of Al Sadd in the table and will be looking to secure the three points to keep their position at the top. Al Ahli, on the other hand are struggling for form as they have only picked up four points from their last six games.
Second placed Al Sadd are hot on the heels of Lekhwiya and will be gunning for the win when they host Al Sailiya at the Al Sadd stadium on Thursday. Jesualdo Fereira’s men seemed unstoppable when they cruised to a 4-1 victory over Al Rayyan on Sunday. The unpredictable Al Sailiya could prove to be a thorn in their side as a win for the Peregrines could end Al Sadd’s title hopes.
Reigning Champions, Al Rayyan will go head to head against Al Arabi in a derby match at the Al Sadd stadium at 20:30. Al Rayyan will be looking to bounce back from their heavy defeat to Al Sadd with a win over Al Arabi. Oswaldo Oliviera’s Al Arabi are in all sorts of trouble after they lost to Shahania last week. The Dream Team would want to win this game in order to ensure their survival in the league.
Al Gharafa and El Jaish will battle it out at Al Gharafa stadium at 20:30. The Cheetah’s will be looking to avoid their third straight defeat after they lost to Sailiya and Umm Salal in the last two rounds. El Jaish, who have confirmed their Qatar Cup Place will be looking to erase the memory of a 5-1 defeat to Lekhwiya last week with a victory over Al Gharafa.
