Qatar Stars League - 22 round preview
Friday’s QSL action will see two important matches which could have ramifications at the upper end of the QSL standings.
The first game of the day is the 16:50 KO at Al Khor stadium, which will see top of the table Al Sadd take on Al Khor in what could be a tricky away tie for the Wolves. Al Sadd climbed to the summit of the league thanks to a comprehensive 7-0 victory over Al Arabi. Jesaldo Ferriera will welcome back defender Ibrahim Majid after serving a domestic suspension. As for the home side Al Khor. They are in very real danger of dropping down to the Qatar Gas League, and are in desperate need of points to assure their QSL status. Last time out they narrowly lost to Al Gharafa 1-0 despite creating the majority of the chances during the tie. Brazilian defender Welington is set to return to the side after missing the last match through suspension. The second game of the day will see Al Rayyan take on Al Gharafa in the QSL match of the week. The current QSL champions will come into the game on a high following a big 2-1 win in the AFC Champions League against Al Wahda of the UAE. Michael Laudrup may elect to change up his side slightly after their midweek exploits. Whilst for Al Gharafa they returned to winning ways last time out after enduring a poor run of form in the league. Portugeese coach Pedro Caixina’s side has tended to struggle against the better sides in the league this season, and will target this game to collect a statement win for Gharafa. In team news, Gharafa could welcome back Slovakian winger Vladimir Weiss back into the squad for this game.
