Orouba shock Fanja, Suwaiq Woes Continue

Orouba shocked Fanja to steal top spot for them even as Suwaiq suffered its third consecutive defeat to end Round 3 as the only team not to earn a single point.
Visitors Orouba shocked their hosts Fanja when they beat them by a score of 3-1 at the Seeb Sports Stadium. The defeat is Fanja’s first this season in the league and it will be interesting to see how both teams build from this result, with Orouba now in pole position atop the table.
Oman Club have now tasted a win, a draw and a loss as they have begun to re-acquaint themselves with the top tier, albeit for the first time in the Professional League. The loss came at the hands of their host Nasr – who edged the game out with a 1-0 scoreline.
Dhofar piled on the misery for Suwaiq in the second game at the Salalah Complex as they blanked their visitors 2-0 to leave Suwaiq, a team on the brink of title triumph last season, to be the only team not take a point in their first 3 games.
Saham and Muscat cancelled each other out in a 1-1 draw at the Sohar Sports Complex, with the later game there that day seeing Shabab beat Khabourah with a 2-1 scoreline.
Shabab have had a rather strong start to the season, with the club yet to lose a game.
Sohar Club emerged victorious at the Seeb Sports Stadium over newcomers Rustaq in a thrilling 3-2 victory. Sohar’s top flight experience probably helped them get over the line and leave Rustaq disappointed with no point to show for their 2 goals.
Another recently promoted club – Jalan, lost 1-0 to Nahda as they continue to endure a tough start to the season. Jalan are playing for the first time at the professional level in Omani football and have their work cut out for them after only claiming a point in the first 3 Rounds.
Round 3 ends with Orouba top with 7 points but with 4 other clubs with the same point total. That brings the total to 5 unbeaten clubs so far upto Round 3 but that is a record not expected to last as the competitive nature of the league has begun to rear its head yet again.
